The Texas Pecan
Board is a nonprofit organization that is charged with sharing the
benefits of pecans in the American diet, and with continuing
research and development of the pecan nut. The Pecan Board was
created by the Texas Legislature in 1998, and during its short
existence has been responsible for continuing efforts of spreading
the word that pecans are good and good for you. Texas is one of the
largest producers of pecans in the nation, and in fact in the world.
The Texas Pecan Crop is very important to the nation’s consumers.
The accompanying Health Facts sheet has a few interesting tidbits of
information about just how important pecans can be in the curtailing
of high cholesterol levels, antioxidants, trace minerals that are
being shown to have an amazing impact on our health, even the
reversal of type II diabetes in women. In short, pecans hold great
promise in terms of a natural way to fight the ills of our modern
lifestyle.
The Texas Pecan Board will inform you of everything you want to know
about pecans, including nutritional information, health benefits,
fun facts, the history of pecans, consumer tips, production data,
USDA standards and more.
We hope that you’ll take a few minutes and look through the health
information and the great tasting recipes that are also in this
packet. Pecans aren’t just for desert or sweet stuff. Pecan crusted
chicken or fish is a delightful alternative to breading and has the
added health benefits, particularly for folks on a low-carb diet.
